A man has been locked up after choking his wife until she stopped breathing in a savage attack at their home. Luke Davey, 35, launched the terrifying assault just after midnight on 16 November last year in Doddington, near March. The couple, caught up in a messy breakup, were involved in a furious argument that quickly spiralled out of control.
Attack Caught on Phone Ends in Chokehold
The victim started filming the row on her phone. Rage took over Davey, who snatched the device and slammed his hands around her neck, cutting off her air for a terrifying 15 seconds. He then dragged her from their daughter’s bedroom as she desperately tried to call the police on another phone.
Dodgy Davey Sentenced to One Year Behind Bars
On 21 April, Huntingdon Magistrates’ Court sentenced Davey, of Marshall’s Road, Raunds, near Wellingborough, to one year in jail after he pleaded guilty to intentional strangulation. He was also slapped with a five-year restraining order, banning any contact with the victim.
Police Praise Victim’s Bravery
“This was a despicable attack which could have had fatal consequences,” said Detective Constable Chris Herring, who led the investigation. “I would like to thank the victim for reporting the assault and supporting us with the prosecution. “Domestic abuse is a force priority, and we will do all we can to put the perpetrators before the courts.”
