Fatal Incident Brings Rail Chaos
A person has died after being hit by a train at kent/maidstone/">Maidstone Barracks railway station on Thursday evening, 7 August 2025.
Emergency services rushed to the scene around 8pm after reports of a casualty on the tracks. Despite paramedics’ efforts, the individual was pronounced dead at the scene, confirmed British Transport Police (BTP).
Rail Services Suspended for Hours
Train services between Strood and Paddock Wood ground to a halt for several hours as officers and emergency crews handled the incident.
Disruption dragged on into the evening, with passengers warned to seek alternative routes or expect delays.
No Suspicious Circumstances, Say Police
“Officers were called to Maidstone Barracks station at around 8pm on Thursday, August 7, following reports of a casualty on the tracks. Paramedics also attended, but sadly the person was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident is not being treated as suspicious, and a file will be prepared for the coroner.” – British Transport Police spokesperson
Victim’s Identity Still Unknown
The identity of the deceased has not yet been released. Authorities are awaiting formal identification and notification of next of kin.
