As a result, trains between these stations are either cancelled, delayed by up to 90 minutes, or revised. Transport for London has also been affected, with no Overground trains currently running between Euston and Watford Junction. Southern Rail services between East Croydon and Watford Junction have also been suspended.
The disruption is expected to last for the remainder of the day as emergency services work to handle the incident.
A spokesperson for Southern Rail expressed their sadness: “It is with great sadness that we report a person has been hit by a train between Shepherd’s Bush and Watford Junction. All lines are currently blocked between these stations whilst the emergency services work to deal with this incident.”
National Rail added: “To allow them to safely carry out their work, some lines are currently closed. Major disruption is expected until the end of the day.”
