The UK is bracing for a big chill as icy air from northern Scandinavia sweeps in. Temperatures will struggle to hit double digits all week, with nights plunging below freezing across much of the country.
Snow Worries Ease in South, But North Faces Wintry Showers
Met Office Chief Meteorologist Neil Armstrong says the forecast is clearer now. “Snow chances are dropping for southern areas, but sleety showers could still hit high spots like Dartmoor and Exmoor,” he warns.
Meanwhile, the north and northeast remain on alert with moist northeasterly winds bringing snow and sleet. The Met Office has issued yellow snow and ice warnings for these regions.
Cold Snap Set to Stick Around into Next Week
Expect plenty of dry, sunny spells for many, but keep an eye out for occasional wintry showers, especially along eastern coasts. The cold is far from over.
Health Warnings Issued for Northern England
The UK Health Security Agency has released yellow and amber cold-health alerts targeting northern England, valid until December 5. Residents should stay vigilant as temperatures stay low.
Early Snow Won’t Stick Around Long
Snowfall this late in autumn or early winter rarely lingers as the ground remains relatively warm. Unlike the deep freeze of late winter, any recent snow is likely to melt quickly.
