Public Sector Set for Massive Christmas Strikes

The GMB union has confirmed its members voted for strike action, joining Unite and Unison in ramping up pressure on the government. The UK faces a surge of public-sector walkouts just before Christmas, including the biggest-ever nurses’ strike nationwide.

Nurses to Stage Historic Picket Lines

On December 15 and 20, a staggering 100,000 Royal College of Nursing (RCN) members will strike across England, Wales, and Northern Ireland. It’s set to be the largest UK-wide nurses’ walkout in history.

Ambulance Staff Also Join the Revolt

Paramedics, emergency care assistants, call handlers, and other key staff at ambulance trusts will join the strike on the same dates. The affected trusts include:

  • South West Ambulance Service
  • South East Coast Ambulance Service
  • North West Ambulance Service
  • South Central Ambulance Service
  • North East Ambulance Service
  • East Midlands Ambulance Service
  • West Midlands Ambulance Service
  • Welsh Ambulance Service
  • Yorkshire Ambulance Service

The government now braces for significant disruption as frontline public service staff refuse to work in the run-up to Christmas.
