Tragedy strikes Eastbourne as two people die in separate cliff falls within 24 hours.
Man Plunges to Death at Beachy Head
On Wednesday, 25 March at around 12.25pm, emergency crews were called to Beachy Head following reports of a man falling over the cliff edge. Rescue teams recovered his body from the base of the cliffs. His next of kin have been informed.
Woman Dies in Second Cliff Fall Next Day
The very next day, Thursday 26 March at about 1.50pm, another tragic fall occurred near the same spot. Coastguards retrieved a woman who had fallen from the cliffs. Sadly, she was pronounced dead at the scene. Her family has also been notified.
Police Investigate as Community Mourns
Police say the woman’s death is not being treated as suspicious. Both cases are now with the coroner and investigations are ongoing.
