Police swooped on a raging house party in Balham last Friday after complaints about loud music and a crowd. At 4.41pm on 29 January, officers stormed a flat on Rinaldo Road, right at the junction with Balham High Road SW12.
25 Caught in Flagrant Virus Rule Breach
Inside, 25 partygoers were found packed together, completely ignoring social distancing laws. The group was swiftly broken up, and every single person was slapped with an £800 fixed penalty notice for breaking coronavirus restrictions.
Inspector Delivers Stark Warning
Inspector Sarah Burrell, South West BCU, said: “My officers should not have to put themselves at risk by attending blatant rule-breakers like this. Anyone who organises or turns up to these illegal gatherings can expect a visit from us – and a hefty fine.”
“This was a blatant flout of the Coronavirus rules designed to save lives and ease the mounting pressure on the NHS. We are still battling a global pandemic, and the risks are simply not worth it.”
