Armed Police Storm South East London in Suspected Terror Raids

Early morning calm turned into chaos as armed police stormed residential streets in Plumstead and Lakedale Road today, sparking fears of possible terror-related raids.

Locals watched in shock as Range Rovers and police convoys — typically used for armed escorts — descended on the area at dawn. Despite repeated requests, the Metropolitan Police have so far refused to issue an official statement, fueling rampant speculation online.

Residents flooded social media with their observations and theories:

  • Vickie Anne suggested there was “a serious criminal in there somewhere.
  • Kelly Gill spotted officers “transporting a prison van” on Academy Road.
  • Tracy Swanson linked the activity to a “big case at Old Bailey,” involving heavy armed escort.
  • Mohamed Ali claimed it was about “arresting someone in possession of firearms they’d been hunting for a week.
  • Kelly Whitehead referenced ongoing terrorism raids across London.

Meanwhile, theories ranged from major drug busts and gang raids to high-profile prisoner transfers and even gentrification protests.

Met Police Remain Tight-Lipped

Despite three separate media inquiries, the Met Police have yet to issue any formal comment regarding the purpose or outcome of the operation.

Sources close to the scene indicated a high-level operation, potentially tied to national security or organised crime. The convoy’s use of armoured vehicles and the presence of specialist firearms officers hinted at the seriousness of the situation.

While no official arrests have been confirmed, the heavy police activity and refusal to comment have only intensified public anxiety.
