Woman Assaulted Outside Devizes Shop in Broad Daylight
Police are hunting for witnesses after a shocking attack on a woman in Devizes. The incident happened around 11:30am last Friday (16/04) in The Brittox, just as the victim, a woman in her 50s, left a local shop.
Younger Woman Strikes Victim, Leaves Her Stunned and Injured
A younger woman suddenly approached and struck the victim in the face, knocking her to the ground where she hit her head. PC Jamie Collings from the Devizes Area Community Policing Team said, “The victim has been left upset and shaken by what happened to her.”
Police Hunt Man Who Filmed Attack
Officers don’t believe this was a random assault but are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident. The area was busy with passers-by, some of whom stepped in to help.
Police also believe a man recorded part of the attack on his mobile phone. PC Collings urged, “We would urge anyone with information to come forward and speak to us.”
