Tributes paid to Barbara Robinson Who was Killed in Winchester Fatal Collision

Tribute has been paid to a pedestrian who has died following a collision in Winchester. Barbara Robinson, 79, Falcon View, Winchester, died in hospital on Thursday, following the collision on St Cross Road, Winchester on Saturday afternoon (12 August). The collision, involving a Vauxhall Corsa, happened between the Bell Inn public house and the junction with Mead Road, at 2.50pm. Mrs Robinson was taken to Southampton General Hospital. The driver of the Corsa, a 20-year-old man from Winchester, was not injured. The family of Mrs Robinson have today paid tribute to her. They said: “Barbara Robinson had lived in Winchester for most of her life. For many years she worked at the Royal Hampshire County Hospital as an HR administrator and brought tireless energy and humour to her work there. “Shortly before she retired she was presented to the Queen in recognition of her service there. “After her retirement and more so following the death of her husband Austin, she became involved in the community in and around Oliver’s Battery both participating in and organising events for the Battery Club. “She was a friendly soul with time for everyone. “Barbara was married to Austin for 56 years and succeeded him by a little over two years. “She leaves behind a large family of children, grandchildren and great grandchildren who will all love and treasure her memory. “The family wish to pay particular thanks to the teams at Southampton General Hospital, Wessex Neurological, and to Hampshire Constabulary who attended to her during this tragedy and who have all displayed tremendous professionalism and caring.” Investigations into the collision are ongoing and anyone with information should contact us on 101, quoting 44170311290.
