Shock Robbery of 80-Year-Old at Maidstone Cashpoint
Detectives are hunting a crook who robbed an elderly man at a Maidstone cashpoint in broad daylight. The 80-something victim was targeted around 8.45am on Saturday, August 24, 2019, while withdrawing money at the Texaco garage on Ashford Road.
Threatened with Weapon, Suspect Flees on Foot
The thug, wearing a yellow top, snuck up behind the pensioner and brandished an unknown weapon. No injuries were reported, but the terrified victim handed over cash before the suspect sprinted off towards Square Hill.
Police Appeal for Witnesses and Dash Cam Footage
Detective Constable Iain Joyce said: “Ashford Road was busy and traffic was stopped at a red light right next to the scene. We urge anyone travelling nearby, especially with dash cams, to come forward. We are eager to speak to occupants of a black Land Rover and a white Mercedes SUV who were next to the station at the time.”
