Large police cordon across harbour area

Large sections of Ramsgate harbour and seafront remained cordoned off on Sunday morning.

The police cordon includes parts of Harbour Street and sections of the seafront near the Royal Victoria Pavilion Wetherspoon pub.

Forensic officers have also been seen working inside the cordoned area as investigators examine the scene.

Taxi examined by forensic officers

A taxi believed to be linked to the incident is also being examined by police after crashing onto concrete bollards on the pavement near the seafront.

Pictures from the scene show the vehicle partially mounted on the bollards, surrounded by police tape.

A forensic officer has been seen photographing the taxi as part of the investigation.

Businesses affected by cordon

Some businesses in Harbour Street have been unable to open while the police cordon remains in place.

Kent Police says additional patrols will be present in Ramsgate while enquiries continue.
