Man Left with Fractured Skull After Brutal Newbury Bridge Attack
A man in his forties suffered serious head injuries in a shocking assault on a Newbury bridge.
Victim Attacked During Evening Walk
The incident happened at around 6.15pm on Sunday (13/9) while the victim was crossing the Wharf Road bridge. A man cycling nearby stopped and struck up a conversation, which quickly turned violent.
The victim was punched hard in the head, causing him to crash into the bridge railings and collapse onto the ground.
Severe Injuries, Now Released from Hospital
The attack left the man with a fractured skull, facial fractures, and a brain bleed. Thankfully, he has now been discharged from hospital but suffered grievous injuries.
Police Urge Witnesses and Dash-Cam Owners to Come Forward
Detective Constable Tara Hamilton of Newbury police station appealed for help:
“I am appealing for any witnesses to this incident to please come forward. I would also urge any motorists with dash-cams in the area at the time to check their footage. It could be crucial to our investigation.”
