Chaos Erupts After Teen Slashed in Peterborough

A 16-year-old boy was left fighting for his life after a stabbing near the Ortongate Shopping Centre, Peterborough, on 12 April. Aspiring lawyer Baye Bireme Fall suffered a fatal stab wound in Riseholme just before 7pm. Reece Huggins, who found Baye critically injured, leapt into action. “I panicked, I didn’t know what to do or how to help him. It’s still a shock to me now,” he told us. He performed CPR in a desperate attempt to save the youngster’s life.

Reece Tracks Down Suspected Killers

With quick thinking, Reece chased the fleeing suspects and caught them. He handed over footage to the police that is now crucial evidence. Two people have been charged with murder: 18-year-old Emidas Krutkevicius from Peterborough and a 15-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons. Both are due to face Cambridge Crown Court on 19 May.

Community Rallies at Heartfelt Vigil

Hundreds turned out on Saturday night near the scene to honour Baye’s memory. Community leaders spoke passionately, urging peace and justice.

“Kindness and compassion has become lost not only in our city, but in our country,” said Shabina Qayyum, Labour leader of Peterborough City Council. “The strength of people here tells me that Baye’s name will never be forgotten.”

Baye’s father, Khalifa Fall, was overwhelmed by the turnout. Speaking through a translator, he said:

“This shows his son had a very, very good relationship with the people. He doesn’t want the kids to take it into their own hands. We are ready for the justice and we need justice to be served.”

The tragic stabbing sent shockwaves through the local community, with many hoping the killers will face the full force of the law.
