Tragic Crash in Barnsley: Elderly Driver Dies, Passenger Seriously Hurt
Fatal Collision on Wakefield Road
Roads Policing Officers are urgently seeking witnesses and dashcam footage after a deadly crash in Barnsley.
The incident happened yesterday (13 October) at 10am on Wakefield Road, Athersley. A black Ford C-Max was involved in the collision.
87-Year-Old Driver Dies at Scene
Emergency services found the driver, an 87-year-old man, in cardiac arrest at the scene. Despite their efforts, he was pronounced dead.
The passenger, an 87-year-old woman, sustained serious injuries and was rushed to hospital. She remains in a critical condition.
Police Appeal for Information
Officers want to hear from anyone who witnessed the crash or has dashcam footage that could help the investigation.
