Bristol Man Faces Crown Court Over Fiery Police Attack

Ryan Roberts, 25, from Easton, Bristol, appeared at Bristol Magistrates’ Court charged with attempted arson. He allegedly placed a lit item under a police vehicle, risking the life of an officer.

Six Charges Linked to Bristol Riots

Roberts also faces five more charges tied to the chaos in Bristol city centre on 21 March:

  • Two counts of criminal damage – smashing windows at Bridewell police station and another police vehicle
  • Violent disorder
  • Two counts of assaulting a police officer

Case Sent to Crown Court

District Judge Lynne Matthews ordered Roberts to appear before Bristol Crown Court on 5 May. She said the serious arson charge must be handled by the Crown Court, along with all connected offences.
