A Woman Has Been Jailed For Five Years After Being Found Guilty Of Sexual Assault And Actual Bodily Harm

Chelsea O’Neill, 21, of no fixed address, was sentenced to five years in prison on Friday, 27 January, at Wood Green Crown Court.
O’Neill was found guilty of: – Sexual assault by penetration; – Sexual assault by touching; – Actual Bodily Harm after a three-week trial.
The court heard that on October 13, 2021, in the early hours of the morning, O’Neill paid a visit to the victim, who she knew in Tottenham. O’Neill sexually assaulted her and strangled her.
The next day, the girl reported the incident to police, who launched an investigation.
On October 14, 2021, O’Neill was arrested on suspicion of assault by penetration and actual bodily harm.
She was detained until she was charged with sexual assault by penetration on October 15, 2021.
“O’Neill is a highly dangerous individual,” said Detective Sergeant Myles Bossman, who led the investigation. She inflicted significant violence on a young female with no remorse for her actions. The sentence is welcomed because it sends a clear message that such behaviour will not be tolerated. This was a horrific ordeal for the girl, but she has shown incredible strength and courage in coming forward and supporting a police investigation with the help of her family. I’d like to thank the brave victim for her courage, and I hope the conviction brings some closure to what must have been a horrific ordeal.” The Metropolitan Police encourages anyone who has been a victim or witness to a sexual assault to contact police; there is zero tolerance for such serious offences.
Should you wish to report a crime, you can do so by contacting police on 101, or 999 in an emergency – we have specially trained officers who will listen and investigate where needed. Alternatively, call Crimestoppers at 0800 555 111 or submit an online report.”the
