Chelsea O’Neill Jailed for Five Years Over Brutal Sexual Assault in Tottenham
Chelsea O’Neill, 21, of no fixed address, was slammed with a five-year prison sentence on Friday, 27 January, at Wood Green Crown Court.
Guilty of Sexual Assault and Actual Bodily Harm
After a three-week trial, O’Neill was found guilty of:
- Sexual assault by penetration
- Sexual assault by touching
- Actual Bodily Harm (ABH)
The horrifying attack took place in the early hours of 13 October 2021. O’Neill, who knew the victim from Tottenham, visited her and carried out the brutal assault, including strangulation.
Police Praise Victim’s Courage, Warn Public
The victim reported the incident the very next day. Police swiftly arrested O’Neill on 14 October on suspicion of assault by penetration and ABH. She was charged the following day.
“O’Neill is a highly dangerous individual,” said Detective Sergeant Myles Bossman, lead investigator. “She inflicted significant violence on a young female with no remorse. This sentence sends a clear message that such behaviour will not be tolerated. The victim has shown incredible strength and courage in coming forward and assisting police. We thank her and hope this conviction brings some closure to a horrific ordeal.”
