Livingston Hit-and-run Incident Sparks Appeal For Witnesses

Detectives in Livingston are urgently seeking witnesses and information regarding a hit-and-run incident that occurred on the night of Friday, September 22, 2023, leaving a man seriously injured.

At approximately 22.55 BST residents in the area observed a white car speeding out of Queens Crescent onto Houston Road. Moments later, a distressing scene unfolded as several witnesses discovered a 46-year-old man lying seriously injured in Queens Crescent. An ambulance was immediately summoned to the scene.

Initial investigations indicate that the victim was standing beside the stationary white car when a horrific incident occurred. The vehicle suddenly fled the scene, dragging the victim along the street for some distance before making a getaway.

The injured man was swiftly transported by ambulance to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary, where he is currently receiving treatment for a severe leg injury.

Detective Constable Watson, leading the investigation for Livingston CID, emphasised the importance of witness accounts in solving this case. He stated, “Queens Crescent is a busy residential street, and there would have been a considerable amount of noise and commotion around the time of the incident. It is absolutely vital that anyone who witnessed what happened comes forward and assists with the investigation.”

Watson also pointed out the proximity of Livingston North train station and urged pedestrians in the area to come forward with any information. He further called upon motorists with dash-cams to review their footage, as it might contain crucial evidence related to the incident.

Anyone with information related to this hit-and-run incident is urged to contact Police Scotland via 101, quoting incident number 4675 of Friday, September 22, 2023. Alternatively, individuals can reach out to Crimestoppers at 0800 555 111.
