London Roads Chaos as Pro-Palestinian Convoy Sparks Major Police Crackdown
The Met Police are hunting down drivers involved in a pro-Palestinian car convoy that wreaked havoc across London’s key routes, including the busy A13 and Limehouse Link Tunnel, late Saturday night.
80-Strong Convoy Causes Havoc on London Streets
The trouble kicked off around 10.15pm when officers were tipped off about a convoy flying Palestinian flags funneling into central London from a car park in Tower Hamlets’ Hancock Road.
The 80-vehicle procession was tracked and intercepted by a fleet of roads policing units, public order teams, and even a police helicopter over Exhibition Road, South Kensington.
Police Clampdown: Seizures and Fines Hit Drivers
The Met slapped a dispersal order on the convoy. Every vehicle got Section 59 notices under the Police Reform Act, warning that failure to quit could mean vehicle seizures.
- One car was confiscated on the spot.
- 18 drivers slapped with fixed penalty notices for traffic offences.
- Nine vehicles banned outright for being unsafe on the roads.
Dangerous Driving and Plans to Target Israeli Embassy
Investigations showed the convoy had dangerously stopped twice on major roads, throwing London traffic into chaos and putting lives at risk.
The group reportedly intended to march on the Israeli Embassy near Kensington High Street — sparking the police’s swift intervention to nip trouble in the bud.
Met Appeals to Public for Help Identifying Offenders
Police have scoured social media and video footage to pinpoint offenders. Images of suspects are now being released, with T/Commander Karen Findlay urging witnesses to come forward.
“Our enquiries have uncovered the full scale of their reckless actions, and their plans to proceed to the Israeli Embassy,” she said. “We need the public’s help to identify those involved. Anyone recognising individuals in these photos should contact police on 101 quoting reference 4237915/23, including the unique number shown on the images.”
Community on Edge After Previous Intimidation
The convoy’s disruption comes amid heightened fears in Jewish communities after past convoys caused intimidation and distress. The Met’s crackdown is aimed at preventing a repeat of these fraught events.
