Man Arrested After Gun Fired in Hendon
Police swooped in Hendon on Tuesday, 17 October after reports of a firearm being discharged on Brent Street, NW4. Cops launched a search and quickly nabbed 46-year-old Faruk Ismail nearby.
Quick Arrest After Firearm Discharge
Detective Inspector Marcus Jones from the Specialist Crime Command praised officers’ fast action. He said: “Officers responded without knowing what they might face, but managed to detain Ismail as quickly as possible.
“Their swift response and thorough investigation left him no choice but to plead guilty.”
Imitation Gun Sparks Fear in Local Area
The incident caused alarm in the community, but Di Jones hopes the quick conviction will reassure locals and show how seriously police treat such crimes.
Faruk Ismail, from Brent Street, pleaded guilty at Harrow Crown Court on Thursday 16 November to possessing an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence. He will be sentenced on 17 January 2024, while in custody.
No Injuries After Shot Fired
Police were called just after 9:10pm on 17 October following shots fired reports. Thankfully, no one was hurt. Officers found the imitation firearm inside the suspect’s home during their search.
