Two women have been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury to a child after a young boy was found with life-threatening injuries in Rochdale.
Police were called to an address in Rochdale at around 4.16pm on Saturday, 22 August, following reports raising concerns for the welfare of a child.
Emergency services attended and found a young boy suffering from serious injuries.
He was taken to hospital for urgent treatment, where he remains in a critical condition.
Women aged 19 and 20 arrested
Following enquiries into the circumstances surrounding the child’s injuries, officers attended an address in Blackburn on Sunday, 23 August.
Two women, aged 19 and 20, were arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury to a child.
Greater Manchester Police said detectives are continuing to investigate what happened.
Police have not released further details about the boy, the nature of his injuries or the relationship between the child and the two arrested women.
Investigation ongoing
Detectives are working to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident, with enquiries continuing in both Greater Manchester and Lancashire.
