Brister and Allan Face Life Behind Bars
Dylan Brister, 27, and Cameron Allan, 21, were found guilty of the horrific murder at Brister’s Methil home in Fife. The duo had been hunting for a man to abuse and lured Mr Simpson there through a mutual friend.
Shocking Evidence Unveiled in Court
During the edinburgh/" title="Edinburgh" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Edinburgh High Court trial, jurors were shown graphic footage from Allan’s phone and photos of Mr Simpson’s severe injuries. Judge Lord Harrower described the case as “the most harrowing nature that this court has ever had the misfortune to listen to.” Jurors were even excused from future jury duty for life to protect them from trauma.
How the Crime Unfolded
- Brister and Allan were initially seeking a man for a threesome but failed.
- Mr Simpson arrived with a friend, Dylan Stewart, and was left alone with the pair.
- The killers then drugged him deliberately for their sexual pleasure, showing blatant disregard for his safety or life.
Prosecutor Angela Gray told the jury, “This is a plan between both accused to drug Calum Simpson to make sure he does not get up. That drugging was wickedly reckless to the consequences. They had complete disregard for his life.”
Guilty Verdict Delivered
Despite their denial and claims of no intent to kill, Brister and Allan were found guilty unanimously of sexual assault, rape, and murder. Brister, who pocketed almost £1,200 a month in benefits and won over £20,000 gambling, claimed he thought the tablets were real diazepam. Allan admitted the drugs came with a supplier’s warning.
Sentencing is set for next month following pre-sentencing reports. Both men are now registered sex offenders, ensuring they remain under watchful eye.
