Teen Admits Stabbing in Royal Wootton Bassett Knife Fight
A 17-year-old from Swindon has pleaded guilty to stabbing a fellow teen during a violent brawl in Royal Wootton Bassett earlier this summer.
June 3 Knife Attack Leaves 16-Year-Old with Stitches
The fracas erupted on the evening of June 3 in the New Road area, where two victims confronted three teenage boys known to them. Things quickly turned nasty when one 16-year-old was stabbed in the back, requiring seven stitches to close the wound.
Guilty Pleas and Court Date Set
The 17-year-old attacker appeared at Swindon Youth Court and admitted to grievous bodily harm (GBH) under Section 18 of the Offences Against the Person Act. He also confessed to attempted GBH on a second teen and possession of a bladed weapon in public.
Two other Royal Wootton Bassett teens, aged 16 and 17, have pleaded guilty to the same charges. While the Swindon youth remains in custody, the other two are out on conditional bail. All three face sentencing on September 18.
Police Issue Stark Warning on Knife Crime
“There can be no place for incidents like this in Wiltshire. The impact of knife crime on our communities can’t be underestimated,” said Detective Constable Chris Hemns of Wiltshire Police.
“It’s a Force priority to target those carrying knives. Young people must think twice before picking up a blade—whether for protection or aggression—because the consequences last a lifetime.”
Hemns called for a united front between police, partners, and parents to tackle knife crime through education and awareness.
