A man has been charged after police stopped a vehicle on the M3 which was suspected of being linked to a recent burglary.
Officers from C Shift, based at Whitchurch, spotted the vehicle while on patrol and carried out checks which raised concerns it may have been connected to criminal activity.
Using authorised tactics, and with support from armed officers, the vehicle was brought to a stop by specially trained police without any reported injuries or damage.
A search of the vehicle uncovered a large quantity of items suspected to have been stolen.
A man was arrested on suspicion of handling stolen goods and taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent.
Police said he has since been remanded in connection with offences including theft of a motor vehicle, handling stolen goods and criminal damage.
The case will now proceed through the courts.
Hampshire officers said the incident formed part of efforts to disrupt criminals using the county’s road network.
