A 21-year-old man from south-west London has been sentenced to six years and nine months in prison for posting and sharing terrorist content online. Ayoub Nacir was convicted following a proactive investigation by the Metropolitan Police’s Counter Terrorism Command.

The investigation revealed that Nacir had been distributing terrorist material on various social media platforms throughout 2022 and 2023. His activities came to light in October 2023, leading to his arrest and the seizure of electronic devices from his home.
Acting Commander Gareth Rees of the Met’s Counter Terrorism Command emphasized the seriousness of online terrorism, stating, “We are aware of the significant impact that spreading online terrorist material can have on vulnerable individuals who may be at risk of being drawn into terrorism. The work that went into this investigation shows how seriously we take online terrorism, and we will continue to identify those individuals who spread this material online.”

Nacir’s conviction highlights ongoing efforts by law enforcement to combat the spread of extremist content and reduce the risk of radicalization.
