South-West London Man Jailed for Peddling Terrorist Content Online
A 21-year-old from south-west London has been locked up for nearly seven years after flooding social media with terrorist material. Ayoub Nacir got six years and nine months for sharing propaganda linked to Daesh and hoarding bomb-making guides.
Met Police Crack Down on Online Terrorist Activity
The Met’s Counter Terrorism Command nabbed Nacir following a sharp investigation. Officers swooped in October 2023, raiding his home and seizing devices packed with extremist content.
- Nacir posted and shared terrorist propaganda throughout 2022 and 2023.
- He possessed detailed instructions on making poisons and planning attacks.
- Charged with 10 offences—five counts of spreading terrorist publications and five counts of holding documents for terrorist purposes.
Guilty Plea and Sentencing
The young man admitted guilt on eight of the ten charges, with the remaining two left on file. His lengthy sentence sends a clear message: online terror crimes carry heavy consequences.
Met Commander Warns on Online Terror Threat
“We are very aware of the harm that distributing terrorist material online can cause, especially to vulnerable individuals who may be drawn into extremism,” said Acting Commander Gareth Rees. “This investigation shows how seriously we take these offences. We will continue to hunt down anyone spreading this poisonous content.”
Nacir’s conviction underscores the police’s relentless drive to stomp out extremist propaganda and stop radicalisation before it takes hold.
