Residents in Haringey and Tottenham are being warned to remain vigilant after an elderly woman narrowly avoided a robbery attempt by a group of men pretending to be from Thames Water. The incident took place earlier today when a man approached the woman’s home, claiming he was there on behalf of the water company.
After gaining entry, he allowed three additional men into the house. However, their attempt to rob the property was thwarted when they realized other people were present inside. The group quickly fled the scene.
The entire incident was captured on CCTV, and footage has been handed over to the Metropolitan Police, who have been contacted for a statement regarding the investigation.
Local residents, especially elderly individuals, are advised to be cautious of unexpected visitors claiming to be from utility companies and to verify identification before allowing anyone into their homes.
