Attempted Murder Probe Launched After Brutal Bus Brawl in Brixton
Police are hunting a suspect after a violent assault on a passenger aboard the packed 59 bus in Brixton. The shocking attack erupted just after 11 a.m. on Thursday, November 21, at the busy junction of Brixton Road and Loughborough Road.
Met Police Turn Scene Into Crime Zone
Officers from the Metropolitan Police raced to the scene following reports of a serious fight on the bus. They quickly sealed off the area, establishing a crime scene, and remain on guard as the investigation heats up.
Victim Rushed to Hospital
London Ambulance Service paramedics arrived within minutes and treated the injured man on-site before rushing him to hospital. The extent of his injuries remains under wraps as medics continue care.
“We were called at 10.36am for a medical incident at the junction of Brixton Road and Loughborough Road,” said a London Ambulance spokesman. “Resources, including a fast response unit, were sent straight away. Our crews arrived in three minutes and treated a man who was then taken to hospital as a priority.”
One Arrested—No Weapons Yet Confirmed
A Met Police spokesman confirmed officers were called at around 10.20am after reports of two men fighting on the 59 bus. One man was detained on suspicion of attempted murder and is now in custody. The other was taken to hospital, but his condition is not yet known.
“At this early stage, no weapons are believed to be involved,” police said. They are querying the exact motive and urge anyone with information to come forward.
