47-year-old man arrested after woman in her 60s suffers serious head injury in Cosham
Woman Attacked Near Morrisons Daily in Chatsworth Avenue
Police swooped at around 4:25pm on Tuesday, February 25, after reports of an assault near Morrisons Daily on Chatsworth Avenue, Cosham. Officers found a woman in her 60s with a serious head injury at a nearby property.
Paramedics from South Central Ambulance Service rushed her to hospital. Thankfully, police say her injuries are serious but not life-threatening.
Suspect Nabbed on Suspicion of Attempted Murder
A 47-year-old man from portsmouth/" title="Portsmouth" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Portsmouth was arrested at the scene on suspicion of attempted murder. He is currently in police custody as detectives dig deeper into the shocking attack.
Police Appeal for Witnesses and CCTV
A Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary spokesperson said:
“We were called at 4:25 pm yesterday afternoon to Morrisons Daily on Chatsworth Avenue, with reports that a woman in her 60s had been seriously assaulted at an address on the same road. Officers and colleagues from South Central Ambulance Service attended, and the woman was taken to hospital with a serious, but non-life-threatening, injury to her head.”
Detectives are urging anyone who witnessed the incident or has CCTV/dashcam footage from the area at the time to come forward.
