A dramatic police pursuit through High Wycombe this afternoon led to significant traffic disruption, as officers chased down a suspect determined to avoid returning to prison.
The incident began when the driver of a Mercedes C63 AMG refused to stop for police, sparking a high-speed chase through the area. The suspect, described as a “very nasty individual,” attempted to evade capture, but officers in a Volvo pursuit vehicle ultimately brought the chase to a safe conclusion.
Despite the traffic mayhem caused by the pursuit, authorities confirmed that no serious injuries were reported. The suspect was arrested at the scene and is now back behind bars.
Police later acknowledged the disruption caused by the incident, stating: “We apologise for causing traffic mayhem in High Wycombe this afternoon! Unfortunately, a very nasty individual was reluctant to go back to prison and decided not to stop for us… Volvo v Mercedes C63 AMG was always going to be interesting, but we won. One ‘proper’ criminal behind bars.”
Investigations are ongoing, and authorities have urged anyone with dashcam footage or further information to come forward.
