Dramatic Rescue at Chichester Marina as Two People Plunge Into Water
Emergency crews sprang into action Saturday evening after two people were spotted in distress at Chichester Marina.
Rapid Response from Coastguard and Lifeboats
At 7:40pm on April 26, the Coastguard called for backup following urgent reports. Both lifeboats from the local station raced to the scene, joined by Coastguard rescue helicopter 175.
One victim had clambered back onto their dinghy, while the other clung to the water. Lifeboat crews wasted no time pulling them both to safety and wrapping them in blankets.
Medical Teams Provide Vital Care On-Site
The Atlantic 85 lifeboat ferried the rescued individuals to the Chichester Marina pontoon. There, members of the Selsey Coastguard Rescue Team escorted them to the Marina office to recover from the shock.
Rescue helicopter 175 had landed nearby, and its paramedic worked alongside a fast-response ambulance crew to deliver immediate medical treatment.
Swift Hospital Transfer Ends Ordeal
Both casualties were later rushed by ambulance to hospital for further care. The coordinated efforts of lifeboat crews, Coastguard teams, helicopter staff, and paramedics ensured a quick and safe rescue.
This dramatic incident underscores the bravery and skill of rescue teams on the UK’s coasts.
