Sussex Police Launch Heavy-Hitting Summer Crackdown on Crime
As holidaymakers flood Sussex’s town centres this summer, Sussex Police are stepping up big time to stamp out crime, anti-social behaviour, and shoplifting. The major blitz, backed by the Home Office’s Safer Streets Summer initiative, runs through to the end of September.
Massive Patrol Push Hits the Streets
From April to June alone, officers clocked over 6,800 extra patrol hours in hotspot areas. The results? A whopping 12,885 public engagements and 75 arrests. Sussex Police have made clear: they won’t tolerate troublemakers.
Big Busts in Brighton
Brighton’s toughest spots have seen serious action. Officers arrested and remanded a woman connected to 19 thefts during the crackdown. Increased patrols and engagement have sent a strong message to criminals lurking around.
More Than Just Patrols – Targeting Youth Crime
The summer campaign isn’t just about cracking down. It also focuses on steering young people away from crime through diversionary activities and community outreach. Sussex Police are playing the long game to keep town centres safe and welcoming, summer and beyond.
With firm enforcement, close work with local councils, businesses, and community groups, Sussex Police are determined to make summer safe for everyone.
