Operation details

Around 20 officers were deployed, with a mix of marked and unmarked patrols and static checkpoints positioned on Dover Road, Tontine Street and Shorncliffe Road. The operation focused on identifying dangerous driving, checking for compliance with traffic regulations, and targeting suspected drink and drug drivers.

The day of action delivered significant outcomes, including:

Police statement

PC Kevin Marsh, who took part in the operation, said:

“This operation highlights the benefits of partnership working and proactive engagement. By removing dangerous drivers and illegal vehicles from the roads, we are making Folkestone a safer place both on and off the roads.

We would also like to remind the public that if you are found riding an unsafe or illegal vehicle, such as an e-bike or e-scooter, you must prepare for it to be seized or face potential prosecution.”

Background

Kent Police confirmed the enforcement work forms part of an ongoing road safety campaign across the district, with further operations expected.
