East London Murder Shock: Man Charged After Body Found in Derelict Building

Body Discovered During Missing Person Search

A 39-year-old man has been charged with murder after a grim discovery in a rundown building on Brockley Road, Lewisham, East London. Police found the body of Junior Ryan Coleman during a search on the morning of Friday, 19 September.

Junior had been reported missing nearly a month earlier, on 20 August. A post-mortem confirmed he died from blunt force trauma to the head, triggering a full murder investigation.

Suspect Arrested and Court Proceedings

Daniel Watkis, 39, from Glenarm Road, Hackney, was arrested on 25 September. He was charged with murder the following day and appeared at Bromley Magistrates’ Court. Watkis remains in custody ahead of his next court hearing at the Old Bailey on 24 October.

Police Make Urgent Appeal for Information

Detective Chief Inspector Sam Townsend said: “Our thoughts are with Junior’s family and friends during this incredibly difficult time. We’re working quickly to uncover the full circumstances surrounding his disappearance and murder.”

“If you knew Junior, especially if you saw him over the summer, please come forward. Any piece of information could be vital.”
