Free E-Scooter Rides for NHS Staff on the Isle of Wight
Key workers can now enjoy free, eco-friendly rides with Beryl e-Scooters on the Isle of Wight. NHS staff simply download the free Beryl App, register with their NHS email, and enter their UK driving licence details. The first 15 minutes of every trip are completely free, kindly funded by Beryl.
Beryl Rolls Out 25 E-Scooters in Newport
Starting today, 25 Beryl e-Scooters are ready to hire and drop off at designated Beryl Bays in Newport. Another 125 scooters will hit the streets over the next few weeks. This careful rollout ensures Beryl and Isle of Wight Council can monitor journey data and tweak the scheme to fit local needs.
The scheme initially targets the Isle of Wight NHS Trust but will expand to Ryde and Cowes soon. Although open to the public, users are urged to stick to essential travel in line with government rules.
How to Use Beryl E-Scooters
- Open the Beryl app to find nearby scooters and operating zones.
- Unlock your scooter by following simple in-app steps.
- End your ride by locking the scooter in the app—listen for the confirmation chime.
Any scooters parked outside Beryl Bays incur a £10 convenience fee. Locking outside the Isle of Wight’s zone attracts a £25 fee to cover return costs.
