Fire rips through Ladbroke Grove flats – Half the building damaged!

Blaze breaks out in converted terraced house

A fierce fire tore through a four-storey building on Chesterton Road, Ladbroke Grove last night. The property, a terraced house converted into flats, suffered major damage with half the lower ground floor and part of the ground floor destroyed.

Firefighters rush to the scene

London Fire Brigade scrambled four fire engines and around 25 firefighters to tackle the blaze. They arrived to find an intense fire already raging and fought hard to stop it spreading throughout the building.

Sub Officer Ian Griffiths said: “Crews were faced with an intense fire on arrival and worked hard to bring the blaze under control and stop it spreading throughout the building.”

Two hospitalised as cause probed

One man and one woman managed to escape before firefighters arrived. Both were taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service crews.

The fire was reported at 10.25pm and under control by 11.45pm, with crews from North Kensington, Kensington, and Paddington fire stations at the scene.

The Metropolitan Police and Fire Brigade are investigating the cause of the fire. The Brigade’s 999 Control Officers recorded eight emergency calls about the incident.
