Seven Soldiers Arrested in Massive Military Drugs and Money Laundering Raid
Seven soldiers, including six from the Irish Guards and one Coldstream Guards veteran, were hauled in during explosive raids across Hampshire, Berkshire, North Wales, and Northern Ireland on Wednesday.
Military Police Crack Down on Conspiracy Charges
The Ministry of Defence confirmed the Royal Military Police arrested the men on suspicion of drug supply, illegal money lending, and laundering. The arrests were part of a carefully planned operation targeting serious criminal activity within the ranks.
“The Army does not tolerate any type of illegal or fraudulent behaviour,” said an MoD spokesperson. “As this is now the subject of an independent Royal Military Police investigation, it is inappropriate to comment further.”
Jubilee Parades Cancelled for Suspects
None of the soldiers under investigation will be marching in the upcoming Queen’s Platinum Jubilee parades. This is a major blow to the Irish Guards, who have been among the British Army’s most active units in recent years.
The 1st Battalion Irish Guards were slated to take centre stage at the Trooping the Colour ceremony on June 2 as part of the national celebrations. Their absence will be keenly felt.
