Crash Chaos Closes Tottenham High Road
A van smashed into a bus just after 3pm on Thursday, sparking chaos on Tottenham High Road near Philip Lane. The southbound carriageway towards Seven Sisters and Stamford Hill was shut tight, snarling traffic for hours.
Bus Services Thrown Into Turmoil
Major routes including the 76, 149, 243, 259, 279, 318, 349, 476, and W4 were hit hard. All buses were forced onto diversion routes via Philip Lane and Town Hall Approach Road, leaving commuters frustrated and stuck in snarls.
Road Finally Reopens After Lengthy Delays
The closure started at 3.10pm and caused widespread disruption throughout the afternoon. Although the road cleared by 6.50pm, it was briefly shut again for vehicle recovery before reopening fully at 6.15pm.
“The road is closed at Philip Lane southbound due to a road traffic collision,” officials confirmed.
Commuters are warned to double-check bus routes before travelling. Delays and disruptions may still ripple through the area.
