Teen Arrested After Shocking Midnight Hammer Attack in Melksham
A 15-year-old boy was arrested after a savage hammer assault on High Street, Melksham, just after midnight on Saturday, 18 October.
The victim, a man, suffered serious injuries during a fracas involving two masked men dressed in black on bicycles.
Melksham Streets Locked Down for Forensics
Police sealed off Bank Street and High Street overnight while forensic teams combed the scene. The cordon was lifted by afternoon, but the investigation is far from over.
Wiltshire Police confirmed the teen’s arrest. He is now on bail as enquiries continue. Meanwhile, the second attacker remains at large.
Victim Stable and Recovering – Police Still Hunting Second Masked Rider
The victim has been released from hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.
“This incident and the large police presence in the town will have undoubtedly caused concern for many residents. I would like to assure you that we believe this was an isolated incident and there was no risk to the wider public,” said Detective Chief Inspector Penny Andrews.
“Enquiries to trace the outstanding suspect are progressing and I would appeal to any witnesses to please come forward. We’re particularly keen to hear from anyone with dashcam footage or who saw two males in dark clothing cycling around the town just before the attack.”
