A high-octane police pursuit in Lindfield ended with a bang this morning at around 10am. A silver 2011 Citroën Berlingo tore out of Brushes Lane, racing onto the High Street with a police dog unit on its tail.

Van Speeds, Throws Fire Extinguisher to Block Police

Eyewitnesses said the van shot down the High Street at speed. In a bid to shake off officers, the suspect tossed a fire extinguisher out of the vehicle’s window, aiming it at the pursuing police car.

Crash Outside South Downs Cellars Sparks Foot Chase

The chase came to a sudden halt when the van smashed into a wall outside South Downs Cellars. The occupants bolted on foot, fleeing down Alma Road as police dogs and officers pursued them.

During the desperate escape, police found a left shoe, a right shoe, and a mobile phone littered along the route — seemingly discarded to slow the hunt.

Suspect Caught on Newton Road

Multiple police vehicles swarmed Newton Road shortly after. Officers nabbed a man, bringing the chase to an end.

Sussex Police have yet to comment on injuries or charges.
