Cop Sacked for Jollying About in Police Car on His Days Off
A detective constable has been shown the door after a shocking misconduct case. Detective Constable Dean Roberts, part of the South Area BCU, was dismissed without notice following a hearing on Thursday, 29 October.
Unauthorized Joyride in Unmarked Police Vehicle
Between March and April 2019, DC Roberts took a police car for his exclusive personal use while off duty—without any permission. To make matters worse, he apparently pushed the speed limits and topped up petrol using an official Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) fuel card.
Breaches of Trust and Honesty Sealed His Fate
Roberts broke multiple standards including Discreditable Conduct, Honesty & Integrity, Duties & Responsibilities, and Orders & Instructions. The hearing chair, Mr Christopher McKay, reviewed the evidence and found all allegations to be gross misconduct.
The verdict? Immediate dismissal without notice for DC Roberts — a clear message that dodgy behaviour won’t be tolerated in the force.
