A brutal, random shove at a Birmingham bus stop has left an 82-year-old dead. Muntahar Ahmed, 44, has pleaded guilty to manslaughter after pushing Allen Karem Chand, causing fatal injuries.

Shocking Attack Caught on CCTV

The disturbing incident unfolded at around 3.30pm on January 14 last year on Soho Road, Handsworth. Ahmed snatched Mr Chand’s walking stick before shoving him off the kerb. Mr Chand crashed to the ground, suffering a fractured skull and serious brain bleeding.

Witnesses rushed to help the grandfather, who was left lying in the road. He was taken to the hospital, but tragically died five days later.
Ahmed, who had no prior connection to Mr Chand, was initially charged with wounding. After the elderly man’s death, the charge was upgraded to manslaughter.

Family Tribute to ‘Loving and Law-Abiding’ Father

“Our father was loving, caring, and never deceived anyone. He taught us to respect the law as an ex-army man, and we will always miss him.”

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. Jesus said whoever believes in me, though he may die he shall live.”

“Our father is not physically with us but he is alive with Lord Jesus.”

Ahmed’s sentencing will be announced in due course at Birmingham Crown Court.
