Cop Charged with 13 Sex Offences Against Minors in Enfield Scandal
PC Hussain Chehab Arrested
PC Hussain Chehab, stationed with the North Area Command Unit, was arrested in July 2021. This week, he was officially charged with 13 offences involving minors. The Met confirmed the shocking allegations against the Enfield-based officer on Tuesday.
Serious Sexual Charges Laid
PC Chehab faces four counts of sexual activity with a girl aged 13 to 15. Additional charges include five counts of making, taking, distributing, and encouraging the spread of indecent images of children, plus engaging in sexual communication with a child. All offences reportedly took place between 2019 and 2021.
Suspended and Under Investigation
The Metropolitan Police’s Directorate of Professional Standards has been alerted, and PC Chehab has been suspended from duty. He was due to appear at highbury/" title="Highbury" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday afternoon.
Met Police Respond to Community Concerns
“We recognise that this news will raise anxiety among the community, and we have fully engaged with our local partners throughout this inquiry,” said DCS Caroline Haines, head of the North Area Command Unit.
“The Met has launched a thorough review of its standards as part of a real desire to rebuild trust, but I recognise that developments like this undermine that work.”
The Met urged anyone with concerns about officers’ behaviour to come forward immediately.
