A man who preyed on three women in Southampton has been locked up for three years. Sohail Amiri, 30, was admitted to a string of sexual offences after stalking and assaulting women in the early hours.
‘Just One Kiss’ Predator Strikes Again
On November 25 last year, Amiri targeted a woman walking along Upper Shaftesbury Avenue, Portswood. Despite not knowing her, he sidled up and told her she was “beautiful” before begging for “just one kiss.” When she said no, Amiri grabbed her wrist and tried to force himself on her. She managed to break free and flee to safety.
Hunt Leads to More Shocking Crimes
Police cracked the case by scouring CCTV, tracking Amiri’s movements, and seizing his clothes. This revealed he’d struck before. Back in September, he had approached a woman on Westwood Road, Bevois, early in the morning, demanding “just one kiss” again. The woman ignored him but later told a colleague, who said the same man had also pushed her while using the same phrase.
DNA and Mobile Data Nail the Beast
Forensic tests matched Amiri’s DNA to saliva found on the Portwood victim. Mobile phone data confirmed he was at the scene. After a series of police inquiries, Amiri was charged.
“He repeatedly said ‘just one kiss’ while ignoring the victim’s protests,” a detective said. “His actions were terrifying and unacceptable.”
Earlier this year, Amiri pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual assault, one of attempted sexual assault, and entering the UK illegally.
