A 33-year-old Wigan man has narrowly escaped jail after sexually assaulting a woman at Warrington Bank Quay railway station.

Abdelrezak Mahdi Mohammed Convicted

Abdelrezak Mahdi Mohammed, from Darlington Street East, was found guilty of intentionally touching the victim in a sexual way without her consent back in November 2024. The shocking attack took place at a busy railway station, casting a dark shadow over the area.

Sentence Includes Community Punishment and Sex Offender Registration

At Warrington Magistrates’ Court, Mohammed was handed a 36-week prison sentence, but it was suspended for 18 months. He also faces:

  • 20 days of rehabilitation activities
  • 300 hours of unpaid work
  • Registration on the sex offenders’ list for a decade
  • £600 court costs
  • £200 in compensation to the victim

Despite deeming the crime serious enough to send him behind bars, magistrates chose to suspend the sentence.
