London’s Beddington Park Set for Neonatal Fundraiser
On July 13, London’s scenic Beddington Park will host the amazing 28K Incubator Push challenge, organised by Ickle Pickles Children’s Charity. This bold event aims to unite communities and hospitals across the UK to raise vital funds for life-saving neonatal care equipment.
The High Cost of Saving Tiny Lives
Neonatal units are lifelines for premature and sick babies. But their crucial equipment—incubators, ventilators, oxygen supplies, brain monitors, feeding pumps—doesn’t come cheap. One incubator costs a whopping £28,000, and daily neonatal care can hit £2,000. With about one in 13 babies born prematurely each year in the UK, Ickle Pickles is determined to give every newborn the best fighting chance.
Meet the NeoHeroes
Julie Voong, Ickle Pickles ambassador, spells out the mission: “There is no greater fight than ensuring a child’s chance to survive. Our ‘ickle pickles’ need specialised care and equipment. We’re calling on everyone to help raise essential funds for these babies. Become a NeoHero.”
The Epic 28K Incubator Push Challenge
Participants will push incubators around Beddington Park for 28 laps—matching the £28,000 fundraising target. The challenge is more than a fundraiser; it’s a spotlight on the tough battles premature babies and their families face daily. Rachael, Ickle Pickles co-founder and mother of a premature son, says: “Since 2009, we’ve supported neonatal units with life-saving equipment. This challenge shows our commitment to giving every child a chance.”
Jack’s Story: A Baby Given Hope
Among those taking part is Jack, a young boy who survived thanks to an Ickle Pickles-supported neonatal unit. His grateful parents are now passionate advocates and invite everyone to join the 28K event and back this life-saving cause.
