Protesters Storm Parliament Square Tree, Refuse to Come Down
Three defiant activists remain locked to ropes high in a tree in Parliament Square tonight, refusing to budge despite a strict 7pm curfew. Police are keeping a close watch, handing out water and offering medical aid as the standoff drags on.
Camped in the Canopy
The trio built a makeshift camp among the branches, chaining themselves to ropes. Officers have tried patience and even fire brigade help to coax them down — but no luck.
One Arrested After Rope Struggle
Earlier, cops took a man into custody after he partially descended but was yanked back and wrestled down from the tree. He was promptly hauled off to Woolwich Police Station.
Met Police Speak Out
“We are aware of one person up in a tree. We have offered medical assistance and help from the fire brigade to get them down, but they are refusing to come down,” a Met Police spokesman confirmed.
The tense protest continues as officers stand by, waiting for the activists to give up their aerial camp.
