Police Halt Business Break-In in Old Basford
Officers swooped on Arnold Road, Old Basford, after reports of a business break-in on the evening of Wednesday, 19 July.
Suspects Spotted and Caught on Foot
Arriving at around 9.05pm, cops found a padlock on the compound cut but the gate still shut. A search of the site, backed by the Operational Support team, spotted two suspects sneaking out through another gate.
The pair dashed towards Fenton Road but didn’t get far. Officers gave chase on foot and quickly detained them close by.
Stolen Van and Tools Discovered on Site
A further search uncovered a van with its engine running. Inside the footwell lay an angle grinder. After investigations, the vehicle was confirmed stolen from South Yorkshire.
Two Arrested – Police Praise Teamwork
- A 36-year-old man and a 16-year-old boy were arrested on suspicion of attempted burglary and vehicle theft.
- Chief Inspector Chris Pearson of Nottinghamshire Police praised the quick work saying: “Thanks to the alertness of our officers, we disrupted a potential burglary, arrested two suspects, and recovered a stolen vehicle.”
- He added: “This shows how our response and Operational Support teams work together for great results. Commercial break-ins devastate livelihoods and we’re glad to have stopped this one.”
