Blaze Breaks Out in Tonbridge Home After Tumble Dryer Ignites
A tumble dryer sparked a fierce fire in a Marden home, Tonbridge, leaving residents shaken. Flames tore through the roof, forcing seven fire engines and a height vehicle to rush to Campion Way.
Firefighters Battle Roof-Engulfing Flames
Crews decked out in breathing apparatus slammed the fire with hose reel jets, main jets, and fog spikes to bring the blaze under control. The intense fire spread quickly but was eventually doused.
Smoke Inhalation Victims and Sad Cat Fatality
Two people were treated by SECAmb for suspected smoke inhalation as a precaution. Tragically, a cat died at the scene. KFRS’ Volunteer Response Team was also on hand to support those affected.

Firefighters urged the public to regularly check tumble dryers and clean filters to prevent fluff build-up—a common fire risk. They warned:
- Never run tumble dryers overnight.
- Don’t leave dryers on when you’re out.
- Keep filters clean to stop fires from starting.
